Budgeting can be a scary subject, especially when you’re on a low income. Thanks to Moneytalk Bournemouth, Michael House is now able to offer genuine and practical support that encourages individuals to begin to tackle their finances, with a view to moving forward and planning for the future.

Michael House was recently featured in an article in The Big Issue Online, a journalist training programme for people who are homeless or marginalised and the long term unemployed. The article features a profile of our Chief Executive Mark Horsford and gives an insight into our history, ethos and the work that we do.

Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) has awarded Michael House a wildlife friendly gardening plaque in recognition of the wildlife friendly features the residents have added in the gardens of the hostel.

Thanks to a kind group of volunteers from the Christchurch Waitress branch and funding from a local choir, we now have a great new outbuilding that we can use for assessments and meetings to give residents more privacy. The volunteers worked hard all day to construct it and when they ran out of time, our residents pitched in and finished the job! See the link below for more details:
