Having spent the previous 30 years farming in the Wiltshire countryside, Jane has thoroughly enjoyed living in Boscombe since 2004. Being elected as a Councillor in Boscombe West in 2011 was very exciting and opened up a completely new life, enabling the local knowledge through voluntary work that she had been doing during the intervening years help her understand the problems and the need for change in Boscombe.
Jane is now the Portfolio Holder for Regeneration and Public Health in Bournemouth Council Cabinet, and although she works right across the Borough, naturally Boscombe has a special place in her heart.
Michael House is an example of how working with vulnerable people can be extremely effective, Jane feels so very proud of their success and is delighted to be a Trustee. We hear at every meeting how residents of Michael House have overcome their problems, or are well on their way to doing so; we understand that the journey is long and often very difficult, but Mark and the team are with them at every step to ensure that each person will go on to live a fulfilling life. The wonderful thing is that Michael House staff are always there to help, there is no ‘cut off’ point, which gives people the confidence to branch out to independence.
